Description:
Exterior photograph of Father Benedict Florian Hahn and the St. Boniface Indian/Industrial School Band on the porch of the
C. O. Barker residence playing music for Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Barker who are standing next to the house.
Father Hahn and the Indian Boys Band which he directed at St. Boniface School in 1907. Father Hahn had asked if he might bring
his band to serenade Mr. C. O. Barker and his bride. The picture was taken at the Barker home located at the northeast corner
of Murray and Ramsey Streets. A private gasoline gas plant had been built on the home place to furnish gas for cooking, heating,
and illumination. Almost more interesting to the boys than the refreshments served them were the chandaliers hanging from
the ceilings. Could it have been they were thinking of the smoked chimney of the coal oil lamps they had to wash each day
at the school?
