Description:
Handwritten letter from Shigeo Motoiko to [Afton] Nance, 1942 April 1.
P.O. Box K Strathmore Calif. April 1, 1942 Dear Mrs. Nance: I’m feeling fine, and how are you? I
came to Strathmore March 26, and I have lots of friend there too. Some people are going to school but most of them are
not, and I’m not going to school too. Did you know that Kazue is in the hospital to take here appendix out. Were living
in a sort of place like a valley up in the hills, and we cant eat any ice cream but I ate enough in Los Angeles and the only
thing I could I could play is the bicycle, and did you know that I broke my arm and the leg riding the bike. (APRIL FOOL)
and thats all. Sincerely, Shigeo Motoike
