Description:
Handwritten letter from Haruko Sumi to[Afton] Nance, 1942 Sep 5. D. 3, B. 64, U. 42, A. 4 Santa Anita Assembly Center, Arcadia, California Sept. 5, 1942
Dear Mrs. Nance, Thank you very much for the affadavit and for your kindness in going to all the trouble for me. I’m sorry
I did not write sooner to let you know how things were going. Thank you also for letting me know the names of person who
may be able to help me. Nori was very happy to hear from you. The children seem to be quite well at the present time.
We, the people at Santa Anita Assembly Center, will have to be evacuated in the near future to some relocation center further
inland. Where ever we will be sent there, never will be such a nice place as So. California. I hope this war will end soon
so that we may all live peacefully as we used to before. Well, school will begin soon, and I suppose you will be quite busy.
Thanks again for every thing. I appreciate your help very much. Wishing you the best of health. Sincerely, Haruko
Sumi
