Description:
Handwritten letter from Mizuye Hirose to Afton Nance, 1943 March 15. 8K-7-E Amache, Colo March 15, 1943 Dear Mrs. Nance, I am very sorry that you must go through all the red-tape.
But after the camera are here we will send you snap shot of this camp. My brother Atsushi, attended San Pedro High School
and graduated from there in summer of 1940 and he also attended California Flyer’s in Inglewood where he recieved his mechanic’s
license. If there isn’t any proof of his citizenship in United States any of those school, I am also enclosing his birth
certificate. Mutsuo is bragging about his report card but I still haven’t had mine so I can’t say much about it. Yesterday
I went through the school building which is being build. The school is build something like our barracks but much bigger.
The auditorium is shaped like the theater Strand” in Redondo. About big as that. Of course not as beautiful as Strand.
The building is build of second or third class wood, so I really was discouraged when I saw it. If not too much trouble
I hope snap shots can be taken around the school, but I don’t want any photo of no San Pedro Harbor or any of those places
where Army or Navy has any connection. I espicilly want the photo of you, Mr. Meyer, all the teachers and the student doing
their activity. I will pay for the development and film. Use the good camera. Yours most sincerely Mizuye Hirose
