Description:
Handwritten letter from Ritsuye [Hatashita] to [Afton] Nance, 1942 Dec 24. Blk 226, Bldg 11-C Camp II Poston, Ariz December 24, 1942 Dear Mrs Nance, Thank you very much
for the nice present you sent us all. We all appreciate it very much. We all thought we wouldn’t have much of a Christmas
this year but its turning out very nicely with so many Christmas card we are receiving from other friends and relative. Just
yesterday Mineyo and Cherry send us a cute Christmas Card. I thought maybe they forgot us but they didn’t. I hope you
received my little present. I’m sorry I couldn’t get you anything better but they weren’t selling anything that I could have
gotten for you. I thought maybe you would like does Poston Arizona Mosquite tree. The little pin that I sent to you was
drawn by a man that lives in this block. He came to Arizona from Palos Verdes too. Maybe you might know him. Its Mr. Sugimoto.
He’s a very good artist. How is every body back home? I hope they are all fine and having a nice Christmas vacation.
As for us we are all fine and having a nice one week Christmas vacation. Though we are going to have a nice Christmas here
I hope we were back home in Palos Verdes spending our Christmas there. We certainly miss our dear home even when we did get
use to Poston. How is the weather over there in Palos Verdes. Is it raining down there? Here in Poston its been the
same for the last past weeks. Very cold during morning and night and very warm in the afternoons. Few nights ago it rain
for the first time I in months. I hear your the principal of Miraleste School. I was very surprised to hear that I hope
you like your work there. Is Miss Sprung, Mrs Goode, Miss Philips, and Mrs Taugaw still teaching at Malaga Cove school?
When you see them please give my regards to them and Miss Pennekamp and Mr Kinsman too. I think I will be saying goodby
now since I have more letters to write. Merry Christmas to you all. Love, Ritsuye
